Over 100 Years of Combined Infrastructure Expertise

The Team Revolutionizing How Cities Protect People

Born from a partnership between innovative cities and concrete infrastructure veterans, SAFE-T® Lane emerged when the City of Boulder challenged us to create something better than dangerous flex posts. The result? The only crash-tested modular barrier system that installs in days, not months.

Top Bike-Friendly Cities Adopted

Our Story

SAFE-T Lane® began with a simple question from the City of Boulder: "Can you create a bike lane barrier that actually protects cyclists without the installation nightmares of permanent concrete?"

SEMA Precast, with its rich history of providing critical transportation infrastructure—from highway barriers to sound walls—assembled its best engineering minds to tackle this challenge. The team understood that painted lines and plastic posts were failing cyclists daily, while traditional concrete barriers took months to install and couldn't adapt to changing city needs.

Working directly with Boulder's transportation engineers, we developed what would become the Slip-Lock® system—a revolutionary connection method that allows vertical installation without excavation. After months of design, testing, and refinement, SAFE-T® Lane was born: beautiful, crash-tested barriers that install in days and protect for decades.

What started as one city's search for better infrastructure has grown into a movement, with many cities across the country now looking to SAFE-T® Lane to protect cyclists, diners, event attendees, and workers.

Every barrier we produce carries forward our founding promise: infrastructure should save lives without complicating them.
